Masterfully Crafting Runes As a beginning Runecrafter, you've just completed the Rune Mysteries quest, and are quite unaware of the possibility for riches and renown that you've just discovered. You may be thinking, "what good will this funny white talisman do me? Who needs it anyway?" You may consider dropping it and never looking back, one less thing to clutter up your bank account, which is already filled with materials for fishing and for woodcutting, the real money-makers, right? Wrong. That talisman, given to you by an unsuspecting Duke, is the key to untold riches, and prestige within the world of Gielinor. All you need to know, is how to craft your way through those that would have you settle for skill in cooking, fletching, and the "art" of making fire. Craft your way into the purse strings of mages across this great world, pick up that Air Talisman, and prepare to become one of the most elite of skill that Runescape has ever witnessed; a Runecrafter. Basics Now, drive alone does not a Runecrafter make. There is knowledge to be passed on to you: tips and tricks, methods and paths. I seek to do that here, to educate you in the ways of a Runecrafter. First, you'll need that Air Talisman that the Duke gave you. ![]() Yes, that one. We're going to talk a little bit about those. Each rune that you can craft has a corresponding talisman, like the one above. Their colors change, depending on the rune, but they always follow the basic structure of the above talisman. In order to craft a specific type of rune, you'll have need of these talisman, or a manifestation of the talisman's power (explained later). These talisman are your way into the Runecrafting Altars that have been hidden for ages. But, since these altars of Runecrafting have been hidden from the world for so long, you'll have to find them first. I'll help you out a little bit, they look something like this: ![]() Maybe I can even help you out a bit more ... the "Locate" option on every talisman will give you hints as to the location of the hidden altar. And once you find the altar, just use the talisman on the 'ruins', and you'll be transported to the actual Runecrafting Altar.![]() Now you can get into a Runecrafting altar, to unlock the ancient powers held within, but wouldn't it be better if that were even easier? Using a talisman on ruins sounds like an unnecessary couple of clicks to me, and after a while, they'll add up. But we can eliminate the need for talismans, instead we'll just use the power of them, in another object: a Runecrafting Tiara. Runecrafting Tiara are advantageous for multiple reasons, the primary being that they can be worn, as opposed to the talisman which has to be carried in your inventory. Another advantage is that wearing a Runecrafting Tiara will create a "one-click" entrance to Runecrafting Altars. ![]() This is an Air Tiara, which you'll be making shortly: ![]() In order to create a Runecrafting Tiara, you'll need two things, and a Runecrafting Altar. The first thing you need is a Runecrafting Talisman, in this case the Air Talisman. Secondly, you'll need a blank tiara, which can either be bought for a small fee, under 100 coins at the time of my writing this... or crafted using a Tiara Mould and a Silver Bar at level 23 Crafting. At a Runecrafting Altar, in this case the Air Altar, which you've found with your talisman, use the blank tiara on the Altar itself. This will imbue the power of the talisman, which will be used up during this process, into the silver of the tiara, and allow you to use the tiara to enter the Altar. Now this is well and good, you can enter hidden Runecrafting Altars across the lands of Runescape using the talisman... but you only have the one? True, an Air Talisman will do you no good attempting to enter the Fire Altar. Edited by iKogasu, Tuesday Jun 30 2009, 06:43 PM.
